Bhubaneswar: About 1.4 kg of gold ornaments and designer necklaces are worth more than RS 24 Lakh, confiscated by alert officials from Gopalpur MLA Pradeep Panigrahy here on Monday.
It comes a day after several teams of the Directorate of Precautions raided their nature for the alleged accumulation of disproportionate assets with 5.05 crore Rs tones.
Simultaneous raids were also carried out at relatives and colleagues in 15 locations, including Bhubaneswar and were mixed.
“We recovered around 1440 grams of gold jewelry and necklaces from the popular brand worth Rs 24.25 lakh during our search.
The total market price of 1,440gm gold will be almost Rs 65 lakh.
The steps are being taken to freeze Bank Panigrahy and family members,” said a senior alert.
On Sunday, vigilance had confiscated several jewelry from MLA’s house and around Rs 20 lakh cash from houses of his colleagues.
The burdensome documents confiscated during the search will be examined by financial wing officials of the Directorate of Precautions, Chartered Accountants and Banking Consultants.
“Cyber ​​cells from vigilance have been involved to examine the evidence / electronic documents (laptops and cellphones) found during the raid.
Witnesses, the suspects and defendants will soon be questioned,” said Anti-Corruption Wing official.
Precautions have registered a case against Panigrahy on October 4 after the direction of the Lokayukta country.
Precautions to verify secrets of panigrahy and find them have disproportional assets with the source of income which is known between 24,5,2009 and 30,11,2020.
The branch of the State Crime on December 3 last year arrested Panigrahy for allegedly deceiving some young men and the pretext of giving them jobs in Tata Motors.
Panigrahy, which was expelled from BJD for alleged corruption practices, walked out of Judicial custody in a guarantee in June.
Former Indian Forest Service Officer (IFS) Abhay Kant Pathak’s Son, Akash, is a joint accusation in the alleged fraud of work.
