Chennai: Directorate of Karur Prison and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) unit has registered a case of disproportionate assets to former Transport Minister Tamil Nadu M R Vijayabaskar from AIADMK, his wife Vijyalakshi and brother R Sekar.
Raids was carried out in 21 locations in Karur Regency, Chennai and Chengalpet on July 22.
In FIR, DVAC has alleged that the minister bought eight properties worth almost Rs 8 Crore in Karur on behalf of two partnership companies and rainbow dryers and metal Rainbow Blue – during the agency examination period taken as 2016-2021 when Vijayabaskar was MLA and the minister.
According to DVAC, Vijayabaskar and Vijyalakshi are partners in this company that raises suspicion that the assets are acquired by the Minister.
In addition, Sekar represents a partnership company and helps Vijayabaskar, ending his illegal enrichment when in the office, DVAC said.
Apart from this, DVAC said that former ministers and his wife had assets and property worth Rs 2.68 Crore during the examination period, which was disproportionate with their known source of income.
The level of disabrication is 55% of total income during the examination period, DVAC said.
