Dumka: Thousands of villagers belonging to the tribal community blocked Jalan Boarijore-Lalmatiya in Godda district on Monday in protest against alleged kidnapping local anti-displacement activists identified as hibbrom ravilal (30).
The blockade was launched immediately after the news about alleged transportation appeared at 7 o’clock on Monday morning.
Hibbrom, a resident of Bherenda Village, is known for mobilizing local residents on the expansion of the Rajmahal Lalmatiya coal project proposed from East Coal Limited (ECL).
Mahagama SDO Shiv Shankar Tiwari said, “Efforts to find ravilal and investigations to ensure the facts about the incident.” The source said the unknown person had kidnapped Murmu Shivnandan from Bherenda Village along with one Ramesh Kysk on Sunday night but then released them.
Talking to reporters, Shivnandan Murmu said his kidnappers were five numbers and traveled in the SUV with a number plate that bore the Janshakti Lok Party on it.
“They first took me and Kysku in Gunpoint to Boarijore and headed to Barhet (Sahebanjan) at around 11pm.
The kidnappers then handed Kysku to another gunman in Barhet and took me back to Boarijore.
They asked me to call the Hybrom Ravilal Near the gas station after that they picked him up.
“Shivnandan claimed that the kidnappers fight the Ravilal movement to protest the proposed expansion plan of ECL.
He also stated that one in five was called sonot Marandi from the village of Babupur.
Because of the protest and road blockade, hundreds of trucks and passenger vehicles remained stranded in the area since morning.
