Villagers fight the KNP Flyover project

Guwahati: Local residents on Sunday enlarged objections in two public hearings for the proposed 35km flyover at the National Highway 37, which passed the Kaziranga National Park to prevent flood death and promote tourism.
This project will cost around Rs 2,625 Crore.
Residents from two villages – Harmoti and Bagori – opposed the ambitious road project because they were afraid of the move to have an impact on their lives and livelihoods in public hearings held on Sunday, which was held by the Government of Nagaon in Kuthori to discuss partiality for parts submitted.
Street.
The second hearing was held in Kohora by Golaghat District Administration.
The meeting was attended by two ministers of the Senior State Cabinet – Atul Bora and Keshab Mahanta – who are also local mlaas in the area.
According to Swapan Nath, a conservationist belonging to the region, said, “People have filed objections because they are worried about their lives and livelihoods, because people will not stop on the roadside for good news and will travel on the flyover.” Principal forest conservator (wildlife) Amit Sahai claims that the proposed flyover will not hinder the livelihood and they can continue to use the road.
“When the local community goes back and forth from point to point by foot or on a bicycle, they will be allowed to use the road under the flyover too.
We have explained to the villagers that the flyover will not affect their daily trips.
The majority of them Has welcomed his development.
“Sahai told TII.
Firoz Ahmed Conservationist wondered how habitats were lost because construction would be restored, adding that the plan needed to be detailed with the timeline.
He said a tunnel was better than flyovers in places like Haldibari and Panbari because it took less time to build one.
“It has a less impact on the surface.
The entire surface surface is available for wildlife to be used as a place of protection and habitat.
Flyover causes a very large sound effect below that can disturb animals,” he said.
According to the notification issued by Golaghat District Administration, PWD officials from the National Highway and Union Road Transport and the Highway Ministry received proposals for alignment suggested by Wadia and Zoma.
