Villagers seize nominated paper

Religious: Ganjam District Administration on Saturday faced a dilemma on the declaration of validation of nominations of sarpiding candidates in Ankuli Panchayat, Patrapur Block, after several tribes suspected of taking a contestant nominated paper from electoral officers.
“We have been looking for reports from The Election Election officer about the incident.
This report will be submitted to the State Election Commission (SEC),” said Collector Ganjam Vijay Amruta Kouse.
Some Panchayat tribes allegedly grabbed the nominated paper from electoral officers after a candidate woman submitted a nomination on Friday, the last day of nominated archiving.
The villagers became angry when candidates opposed their decision to boycott elections in protest against Sarpanch Pos Reservations for Scheduled Castle Candidates.
“Pancrayat, which is located on the top of the hill, has the majority of tribal people.
Instead of ordering it for scheduled tribes, the post is reserved for caste candidates scheduled,” said a village resident.
The election officer has filed firs at the Jarada police station in this matter.
“We have registered a case and is investigating this problem,” said Bhabanand Pradhan, Inspector Responsible, Jarada Police Station.
