Tokyo: Fence Icon Beatrice “Bebe” Vio managed to defend his female paralympic gold on Saturday because of the legend of US Wheelchair Racing Tatyana McFadden won the 18th Paralympic Medal.
Vio, one of the world’s most famous paralympians, was in an unstoppable form when he defeated Zhou Jingjing 15-9 China in the individual gold medal match Foil B, as he did in Rio five years ago.
The 24-year-old Italian, who had both arms and legs was amputated when he contracted meningitis as a 11-year-old child, shouted happily before crying crying on his coach’s arm after the point of victory was rated.
On the 4th day of the competition, a total of 54 gold medals rose to be contested in nine different sports, including 17 athletic finals at the Olympic Stadium.
McFadden took bronze on T54 women of 5,000 million women to extend the finishing line on the podium in every paralympic competition which he entered since 2008.
But he said only competing in Tokyo was a victory in himself, has been diagnosed with blood clotting disorders.
In 2017 it took almost two years to recover.
“I’m in Nine Cloud,” said the 32-year-old player, who was born in Russia and grew up in the orphanage until he was adopted at the age of six.
“I was in a very dark place because it took 20 months to recover, and everyone was getting better in 20 months.” McFadden added that it was “quite extraordinary” that he took a bronze behind our teammate Susannah Scaroni, who won gold.
Fleur Jong from the Netherlands won the old women’s leap, beating the French defense champion Marie-Amelie Le Fur with a leap of 6.16m.
Le Fur, a three-time paralympic gold medalist, said he would retire after the competition.
“The time has been completed here in Tokyo,” said the 32-year-old player.
“I’m proud to do this with this show and with these extraordinary girls.
There is no regret.” Susana Rodriguez Spain, who helped fight Coronavirus in his work as a doctor, won gold at the Women’s PTVI Triathlon.
Rodriguez, which completes hours of training for Paralympics in between helping patients recover from the most severe infection, will also compete in 1,500 m at the Olympic Stadium on Sunday.
“I will try to relax now and try to recover my legs,” he said.
“I have to stay calm because this situation gives me a lot of adrenaline.” Kadeena Cox England will also distract her to athletics after winning the golden cycling gold on the Sprint team.
He will try to defend the T38 400m title next week.
Also in Velodrome, husband and wife Neil and Lorie Fachie from England won gold in 15 minutes each other.
The Boccia competition took place with the four individual gold medalists from the Rio game that returned to defend their title.
Champion BC4 Hong Kong Leung Yuk-wing will try to repeat Athens 2004’s achievements of winning gold in individual events and couples.
“I try to relax to face the game because it just thinks about being a champion or a gold medal will be a lot of pressure,” he said.
In a rugby wheelchair, England booked their place in the final with a 55-49 victory over host Japan.
They will play USA or defending champions twice in Australia in a gold medal match.
Far from the competition, the organizer apologized after the visually disturbed judoka was hit by a self-driving bus in the village of Paralympic on Thursday.
Tokyo 2020 suspended the operation of the vehicle after an accident, where one of the buses “made contact” with Aramitsu Kitazono.
Kamazono was scheduled to compete in the Male Competition -81kg on Saturday morning, but did not start the match against Dmytro Solovey Ukraine.
