Patna: Air Kosi which radiated through the old bund for decades on Wednesday caused around 25 meters of violations at Sikarhatta-Majhari (SM) Bund under the Block Nirmali District Supul on Friday morning, creating panic around 75 villages lying in Nirmali.
And Maraura blocked district, reports that reached here said.
S-M Bund is also called Bund Marginal Dagmara.
Superintending engineers from the flood control wings at the Head of the Water Resources Department (WRD), Patna, Lakhman Jha said as a result of a violation, the water of Kosi flowed into a tributary called Tilyuga which was located between the West Kosi embankment and Low Majhori Bund.
There is no threat to the West Kosi embankment, he added.
The water flowing through a violation at S-M Bund has run towards the Tilyuga River.
The old bund – which was in the protection nature of Bund Village – has been rebuilt in the early 1960s.
S-M Bund is in the direction of Dagmara Locality, while Nirmali is a local business and trade center that appears in the Supaul district.
At present, water flowing does not pose a threat to the Nirmali bazaar and three Panchayats.
“Fortunately, the water discharge through a series of birpur across the Kosi River on the Indian-Nepal border has fallen to 1.70 lakh cusecs, when the violation occurs.
Also, the water level in Tilyuga is low and, therefore, comfortably taking flowing water And also let it flow downstream and then return to Kosi, “said Supail DM Mahendra Kumar, when contacted on the phone.
Supul DM also said there was no loss of life and property not yet reported.
“The situation was controlled.
People in the villages at the bottom of Tilyuga have been asked to move to a higher ground near the village school,” he said, adding that the administration has also opened two kitchens of the community at the nearest school place to provide relief to refugees to refugee people.
Kumar, along with SP Manoj Kumar camped on the site violated until the situation was controlled.
An immediate warning in the villages lying down along the downstream of the Tilyuga River has also been sent.
“We have made arrangements to get an installed violation,” said DM, added: “The speed of water flowing is very high.” Panic caused by a violation remembered the fear of violations of August 18, 2008 at the East Kosi Afflux embankment.
It caused a big loss in two Nepalese and six districts in Bihar.
On Patna, the WRD source said the engineer team from the Birpur Department division, led by Chief Engineer, had camped there to plug in violations.
“High current speed, but extinguishing work will end on Saturday,” said the WRD source.
“The worries at the WRD headquarters were that the violation was caused by local crime to let the water flowing from the violated of the old mother near Bhutaha Chowk flowed into the Tilyuga River,” said a WRD source.
Supul DM stated that if the Tilyuga River overflowed the banks, it might result in water into the lowlands of three pancidayat block Nirmali and 13 other Panchayats from the Maraura block.
