Ahmedabad: Lure of a VIP Mobile Number has a citizen fee of Rs 1.43 Crore.
Cybercrime police have arrested a man identified as only as Dhruvil, a resident of Nava Vadaaj, who has deceived a complainant for the past two years.
The complainant told the police that he had received a call where he was told that he could get a VIP number for his cellphone connection.
The defendant, Dhruvil, asked him to pay for processing fees.
The complainant has made a payment for the past two years and has so far separated with more than one crore.
Dhruvil even gives invoices with cellphone numbers and says that the SIM card will reach a complainant.
To get trust, Dhruvil even returned RS 11 Lakh stating that payment was excessive.
The police said that when the complainant did not receive a SIM card, he approached the Cybercrime police.
Dhruvil is detained with the help of technical supervision.
During interrogation, the Dhruvil bank account was examined and the police recovered Rs 1.40 Crore from the account.
