Vishwamitri’s young bridge with people

Vadodara: Efforts to Corporation Municipal Vadodara in ‘Cleaning’ The Wiswamitri River has triggered preciousness among environmental lovers and activists, but Civic’s body continued his journey.
The work has stopped now after the Civic body receives rap from the National Green Tribunal.
Now, the young generation of Banyan City has advanced to raise awareness among Barodians about the river, the ecology and to reconnect them with him.
The group under the banner of ‘Vishwamitri’ voices’ has started the streets of nature and the talk series to make people understand that the river does not only flow the water they see and pass every day, but a living water body that also consists of a population that develops crocodiles , insects, birds, vegetation and some other living things.
“Some initiatives are being carried out to save Vishwamitri but no one who has the participation of the younger generation.
Also, the city youth do not know much about the river.
So, we begin this initiative where we call experts for talks in an effort to continue knowledge to generation Young so they can connect with the river, “said Ruthvik tanks, urban planners.
“People previously went to the river to take water for their daily needs, but because every home now has a knock, people have forgotten the importance of the river and has been cut off from it,” he added.
Apart from nature walking along the river, the group has so far held two talk sessions – one on the Hydro-Geological features of Vishwamitri and others about cultural history and historical structures located around the river.
“Once someone understands the importance of the river, they can then contribute by continuing to spread awareness among more people.
We focus on Vishwamitri but on a larger scale, this applies to all urban rivers,” Zameen said, another group member.
The group consisting of civil engineers, biologists, artists and architects plans to organize more talks about pollution, wildlife, botany, water, law, planning, mythology between other themes along with cultural and art sessions.
Tanks told Ti that in each session, the number of participants had been swollen.
“There are curiosity among people and they now feel that something must be done at a greater level of policy,” Tank said.
