UAE is part of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), which negotiated free trade agreements with India a few years ago, until the talks were abandoned.
India and GCC have stopped talking to several trading partners.
The Bilateral Trade Agreement with the UAE also marked significant changes in India’s attitude because the Modi Government almost stopped talks with all countries until he spilled their obstacles after leaving RCEP because of China’s presence.
Since then, it has signed negotiations with the EU, England, Australia and Israel with several FTAs ​​expected to be done in the coming months.
With a bilateral trade of $ 43 billion, UAE is the third largest trading partner in India during the last financial year, lagging in China and the US.
During April-October this year, it is the second largest export destination for Indian items.
