Vadodara: He challenged visually.
But the support of his friends help him travel the rough terrain to scale Mount Friendship, known as the Friendship Peak, Himachal Pradesh.
Not affected by cold winds and freezing temperatures, the two friends on the Vadodara recently covered the peak at an altitude of 17 346 feet above sea level.
“I love the mountains.
I have climbed the mountain in Pavagadh, Jambughoda and Chhota Udepur among others.
But the Himalayas are fields entirely different because the range of snow.
I could do it because my friend,” said Sanjeev Gohil, 43, who worked as an assistant post The Department of Post (India Post).
Gohil was diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa, a progressive visual impairment, in 2001.
Even when he has lost his eyesight 100% now, he did not lose the desire to forests, wildlife conservation and climb he began to lose sight.
“It is my passion to be in the woods and mountains.
But because my friends were becoming a reality,” said Gohil.
During the five-day expedition, Gohil constantly following its civil engineer friend, Pushpak Kotiya, 33, on the shoulder or with a sling attached to the bag.
“The movement of the upper and lower his shoulder to help me assess the next steps I should take.

“We have done some mountaineering but scaling Friendship Peak is a challenge because the cold mountains snowclad.
During the ascent, a traveler puts his feet into the steps of snow there but it is becoming increasingly challenging for Sanjeev because he can not see the steps there.
For every step, he needs three times more energy than others, “said Kotiya.
“My dream is to conquer Mount Everest one day,” added Gohil.
