VMC avoids a tax increase, does not propose a large ticket project too

Vadodara: Commissioner of Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) presented the RS 3,834 Crore budget to the permanent committee of the Civic body which avoided the imposition of any tax increases on citizens.
The budget design for 2022-23 presented by Commissioner VMC Shalini Agrawal is also without the announcement of a large ticket for infrastructure development.
Most of the money is proposed to be spent on housing for the urban poor and for basic facilities such as roads, water and drainage.
The total expenditure for the development of work in the city now stands at Rs 1,329.75 Crore.
Although no new large ticket work proposed, the budget has tried to pave the way for several projects that might occur in the future.
Agrawal said that plans to be integrated for water needs and waste disposal in the city for the next 45 years will be made.
This will involve and sacrifice Rs 900 Crore.
Also, the Civic Body is looking to conduct a feasibility study for the circumference around the city.
VMC will also provide a big boost to take some online services.
This sill includes the application for housing schemes as well as other resident centric services such as ordering community halls, city halls, pool membership and other facilities of the VMC.A excavation and monitoring system (PDM) will also be enacted by agents who want to explore the way in the city for each installation cable or development.
This is done for effective supervision of the work and prevents excavation of recklessness.
Agrawal said that the budget aims to serve the needs of various parts of society.
He added that VMC would meet his revenue target even though the price discounted was given due to the ongoing pandemic.
The Commissioner added that in the past 10 years, civilian bodies have taken the development work of 5,900 crore.
He said that special provisions had been made for areas added to the city over the past few years.
The civil body has proposed to increase RS 131 Crore’s revenue from land sales.
It is also proposed to take RS 100 crore loans or raise the amount through bonds.
The budget design is a budget surplus and hope for transferring the RS 55 Crore surplus to the capital budget.
Agrawal said that VMC adopted a tax compliance approach to ensure maximum tax collection.
