Vodafone Idea (Vi) has today announced that it will offer complimentary voice and data benefits to its low-income users as the telco continues to extend support during the Unlock 2.0.
In a press statement, the telecom company said that this is being done as the migrant workers have started returning from their home towns to their work locations and were unable to recharge their numbers due several factors.
As part of the benefits, Vodafone-Idea is offering 50 calling minutes to other Vi numbers as well as 50MB of data.
The validity of this entire benefit is 15 days.
The telecom company will check the eligibility for those who will get this service .
For this, Vi has asked its users to dial USSD Code 44475# or call toll-free IVR 121153.
After the eligibility is established, Vi will send an SMS to unlock the aforementioned benefits.
If any Vi user isn’t sure about the process, they can also visit the nearest retailer who should be able to check the eligibility and activate the offer.
This isn’t the first time Vi has announced free benefits for its low-income customers.
Back in May, when the second wave of the Covid-19 was at its peak, the telecom company announced that it would offer a Rs 49 recharge pack for free as a one-time offer.
As part of this plan, Vi offered talktime worth Rs 38 talk time, 300MB data — all valid for a period of 28 days.
Vi rival Airtel also extended similar support to its low-income customers last month when it offered Rs 49 pack free of cost to users.
This pack includes talk time of Rs 38, 100 MB of data and a validity of 28 days.
