Last week, Vodafone announced that it was auctioning the first SMS in the world as a non-fungible (NFT) token.
Now, the company has announced that a bidder has paid 107,000 euros for the replica of the first communication protocol of short messages, immortalized as NFT.
The results of the auction will be good because of this Christmas season.
Vodafone will donate them to UNHCR, the UN refugee body, to support 82.4 million people who have been forced to escape from their homes because of conflict and persecution.
The news was shared by the official twitter grip of the Vodafone Group.

The first SMS in the world was sent almost three decades ago on December 3, 1992 through the Vodafone network.

Exclusive NFT is printed in edition 1 and the company has assured that it will not mint another NFT from the first SMS in the world in the future.
The NFT buyer will get a certificate that guarantees the authenticity and uniqueness of the NFT signed by the Vodafone Group CEO Nick Read.
Apart from this, the detailed replica of the original communication protocol created by Vodafone, which documents the delivery / receipt of the world’s first SMS along with the original communication protocol replica as a TXT file (PDF code version) and as a PDF file (code / not encoded) too will be given to buyers by the company.
For those who don’t know, NFT is the only digital collection.
This means unique and cannot be replaced.
This virtual token can be a song, film, artwork, photos, social media posts, gif and anything that can be stored digitally.
