Hanoi: The United States welcomes competition and does not seek conflict with Beijing, but will talk about problems such as maritime disputes in the South China Sea, Vice President Kamala Harris on Thursday because he concluded the trip to Southeast Asia.
During a visit to Singapore and Vietnam, Harris demanded China by intimidating the neighbor of Southeast Asia, triggering a sharp rebuke from Beijing, who accused us of interfering in regional affairs and disrupted peace.
“We welcome tight competition, we are not looking for conflict, but on problems such as the South China Sea, we will speak,” Harris told a press conference in the Vietnamese capital Hanoi.
“We will talk when there are actions needed by Beijing who threatens international order-based orders,” he added.
Harris’s seven day trips to Singapore and Vietnam are part of a broader US strategy to be taken in China globally.
China, Vietnam, Brunei, Malaysia, the Philippines and Taiwan claim the parts of South South China waters, which are crossed by vital shipping lines and contain gas fields and reasons for rich fishing.
In a meeting with the Vietnamese leaders on Wednesday, Harris said “Intimidation and excessive maritime claims” in the South China Sea must be challenged, and offered us support to improve Vietnam maritime security, including more visits by US warships to the country.
His statement condemned condemnation of Chinese media.
On Wednesday, China State of Run Daily, responded to Harris’s comments in Singapore, said Harris had “deliberately ignored his own hypocrisy” in an effort to wake countries in the Chinese territory.
On Thursday, after his meeting in Hanoi, The Global Times said the US “dreamed” to incite Vietnam to face China.
“For Washington, it could not be better if the new war between Beijing and Hanoi broke out,” Tabloid, published by the official newspaper Chinese Communist Party in power, said in the editorial.
The US administration has called competition with China “the biggest geopolitical test” in this century because of its pivot cement with Asia.
Southeast Asia has seen a series of famous visits by Puncak administrative officials, including Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, who visited Hanoi at the end of July.
