Vadodara: Lake Timbi Located on the outskirts of the city seems to have become a favorite jamel for nasar.
Young students, who captured photos of birds migrated on the lake, saw Hering India recently.
In December last year, Egyptian hiering was seen on the Lake of Timbi after almost 30 years.
Sanal Santosh immediately caught several great hering photos that flew in the sky.
“I watched the flock of black kites and clicked on a photo when the eyes fell on a bigger bird In environmental science in Pune, to Toi.
He currently does a dissertation under the WCB Research Foundation.
“The Indian hiering population decreases and hence is a good sign seen near Lake Timbi which has good biodiversity,” he added.
Vulture India, also called the old world hering, is registered as an endangered species on the IUCN red list.
The cause of the population decline is caused by rampant use of dichlofenac – anti-inflammatory drugs given to animals to reduce their joint pain.
When the nasar birds consume such dead animals, drugs enter their bodies and cause kidney failure and death.
Some Indian Nasar birds have been seen in hilly areas in Pavagadh.
