Ludhiana: Residents might need to wait more time to find new arms licences since the city authorities have stopped issuing them for an extended period.
The decision had been taken since the special investigating team (SIT) shaped January this year to see whether the licences issued thus far are on real grounds hasn’t begun the confirmation drive.
To begin with, the ceremony was discontinued until February 28, afterward until March 31 and currently indefinitely until farther orders.
The SIT includes joint commissioner of police (headquarters) J Elanchezihan, deputy commissioner of police (law and order) Ashwani Kapur and assistant commissioner of police (licensing) Ranjit Singh.
The city authorities had shaped the group after getting a complaint where a person alleged that he wasn’t issued a license, while some needed it on bogus documents.
DCP Ashwani Kapur explained,”We’re supposed to phone every licence-holder into the office for confirmation.
We’ve prepared a list also, but following Covid cases improved, the SIT couldn’t start functioning.
Currently JCP Elanchezhian has contracted the virus also will be on leave.
After he joins responsibility, the SIT will begin work” The SIT is designed to look at all details under various classes, like sex, livelihood, income and educational eligibility.
