NEW DELHI: The Indian Medical Association on Tuesday wrote a letter to Union home minister Amit Shah and encouraged him to ensure powerful and efficient actions against health violence.
From the letter signed by IMA principal Doctor J A Jayalal, ” the doctors’ body said incidents of healthcare reform have grown through the last few years and are becoming prevalent.
“While the whole medical fraternity stands together and is currently working tirelessly throughout the outbreak, it’s also facing a severe threat in health care reform,” it stated.
The IMA cited the recent episode in Assam in which a physician was attacked from the family of an Covid patient.
It stated that physicians and health care employees are finding it hard to work under the strain of violence.
“The actual size of the issue is mostly unknown and current data indicates that the present knowledge is just the tip of this iceberg,” it stated.
The IMA pitched to get a comprehensive, uniform, and efficient law contrary to the medical violence.
“We ask you to kindly accept a powerful and robust act against the medical violence.
Medical profession differs from the remaining livelihood, it will become crucial to have a powerful action against violence particularly for the health professionals and employees,” it stated.
