Jaipur: Jaipur police on Friday raided the warehouse and confiscated 46 Kuintal Post Doda (Poppy Husk) and Chura (mixed) worth more than Rs 1 Crore.
The police said that narcotics were stored as animal feed in around 200 packages in a warehouse located near Dunger’s akera in the Vishwakarma Industrial area.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Crime, Ingant Anand, said that the police had received a tip-off that large amounts of narcotics were stored in a warehouse in the city for smuggling.
“Acting on the input, we stormed the warehouse and found that the Post and Doda Chura Doda (mixed) was stored inside,” he said, adding that the warehouse was run by Taufiq Ali (32) and Imran’s aide.
Both were arrested by Jhotwara police during the crackdown on Wednesday.
According to Anand, Taufiq was used to buy a supply of bulk narcotics from Madhya Pradesh and save it neatly in the warehouse.
Most of the substances confiscated must be smuggled into Punjab.
The source claims that it is one of the biggest seizures of every narcotics substance that is prohibited from Jaipur.
“The request for Poppy husks and the mixture is minimal in Jaipur.
The defendant also claimed that none of these items would be conveyed in the city, but must be carried illegally for Punjab,” an official told toI with anonymity requirements.
He added that they tried to identify how many times the defendant had smuggled this bulk supply to neighboring countries.
Officials are confused by large amounts of drugs they find in the warehouse.
“The defendant (Taufiq) is a well-known drug vendor.
He was involved in several drug smuggling racquets.
He was on the run from various agents for a very long time,” the official added.
The preliminary probe has shown that Taufiq has been involved in the racket peddling drugs for almost a decade now.
“He has been supplying narcotics in other countries too, such as Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh.
SOG also filed a case against him where he escaped,” the official said.
