Cricket Australia (CA) said on Tuesday’s opening David Warner and All-Rounder Mitch Marsh had rested for the Twenty20 international five matches against Sri Lanka next month to prepare for the upcoming Pakistani tour.
The 16-man squad includes five players – Pat Cummins, Steve Smith, Travis Head, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood – from the recent test team who destroyed England 4-0 in the ash series.
Hazlewood returned after losing the last four ash tests with a side strain.
“These troops will begin preparations for the ICC T20 World Cup defense at home later this year and include several players who have the initial chance to impress in these five matches against quality opposition,” said CA.
The series against Sri Lanka will be played from February 11-20.
Australia will play three tests, three international international and international T20 in Pakistan starting March 3.
T20i troops: Aaron Finch, Ashton Agar, Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Ben McDermott, Glenn Maxwell, Jhye Richardson, Kane Richardson, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, Marcus Stoinis, Matthew Wade, Adam Zampa
