Warning ‘orange’ in Gurgaon today; Mercury rises next week

Gurgaon: Some parts of the city receive moderate rain on Saturday.
The Indian Meteorology Department (IMD) has issued a ‘orange’ warning for Sunday, when the rain is moderate and the storm is expected.
According to IMD, intermittent rain is likely in the next two to three days.
“Seasonal hammer tends to shift north, leads to more rainfall activities in the northern state,” said an official.
While rain began earlier on Saturday morning in several regions, a short but intense rain spell was reported at around 11:30 a.m., which lasted about half an hour.
Many lowland areas such as sector 9, 9a and 37 and basin roads are flooded after shower, but most traffic is still not affected.
“The rain is only about 20 minutes, but the streets and empty plots are flooded with rain.
Cleaning the gutter line is only done on paper.
Very disappointing to witness waterlogging after a little rain,” said Manbeer Singh, a resident of sector 9A.
City air quality index (AQI) slightly deteriorated to ‘moderate’ on Saturday.
The overall AQI reading was 111, against 93 (‘satisfying’) on Friday.
While the IMD observatory in the city cannot record Saturday’s rainfall, data from the district administration shows Gurgaon records 14mm rain until 5 pm on Saturday.
According to IMD, between August 1 and 7, the city only received 30.8mm rainfall, a 42% deficit compared to normal 53.5mm.
However, between June 1 and August 7, Gurgaon received 427.2 mm rainfall as it opposed the normal 275mm season, excess 55%.
Rain and cloudy sky throughout the day causes falling at daylight temperatures by two notches up to 32.4 degrees Celsius.
The minimum temperature is recorded at 23.4 degrees.
According to IMD, the maximum temperature for the next six days tends to float between 34 and 37 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature will settle between 25 and 26 degrees.
Meanwhile, Delhi also received moderate rain on Saturday.
Short rain spells cause water to move in some parts of the capital.
Traffic congestion was reported near Vikas Minar in Ito.
