Durham: Captain Warwickshire Willfred Rhodes will lead 14 members select District XI in a three-day warm-up match against India on the river side here from 20-22 July, the British Cricket Council and Wales said on Thursday.
Former British bowler and head coach Lions (A team) Currently Richard Dawson will supervise “Select County Xi to play India at Emirates Riverside in a three-day match, starting on Tuesday July 20.” In previous years, this team is generally called “Combined County” which always has a first-class fixture against tour countries.
The match will be played behind the door closed with the Indian contingent that has reported several positive Covid-19 cases including the first team guard Rishabh Pant.
Squad XI Select County also includes a recent debutant test James Bracey and Nottinghamshire opening Haseeb Hameed, which made his test debut against India in 2016.
“Squad was chosen after consulting with first-class countries about the availability of players and to provide some of the potential talents Height from across the County game with the opportunity to test themselves against the finalist of the ICC World Test Championship, “ECB said.
Short bubbles are arranged to be made by the ECB for this game after all the selected players undergo a Covid-19 test.
“The county players will bridge the team’s environment and undergo covid testing before being cleaned to play in the match.” The ECB thanked first-class district for “sustainable support to make players available for this match and to Durham County Cricket Club to provide facilities for this match to be staged.” The match will be available to watch directly through the Youtube Cricket Club Durham County channel with ball-by-ball comments also available on the BBC radio.
