Waste Management Method in Karnataka Praised by Niti Aayog

Hubballi: Bengaluru and Mysuru have been recognized for the use of effective methods in disposal and management of solid waste, according to research, ‘wise cities’ carried out by Niti Aayog, and the Center for Science and Environment, New Delhi.
While Bengaluru has shown a way in hiring internet technology and communication (ICT) for effective solid waste management, mysuru pioneering methods in the handling of biodegradable solid waste have been highlighted in the report.
The 244-page report is a compilation of a comprehensive review of the tools and methods used for waste management in 28 cities in 15 states.
Bengaluru has been identified as one of five cities where the current work is on the way to improve efficiency in waste processing.
Bengaluru has topped the charts when it comes to using technological innovation to overcome the problem of increasing waste management.
With more than 1.3 crore populations, it has won first in this category, followed by Leh, Vijayawada, Keonjhar and Kakinada.
This report refers to the initiative outreach conducted in Bengaluru by Hasiru Dala, an organization that specializes in offering services in waste management.
