Pune: A total of 15 pregnant women are under the watch after their blood sample remains positive for co-infected with Chikungunya, Dengue and Chikungunya-Dengue in the village of Belsar in Purandar Taluka – the first Zika Virus case site in Pune Maharashtra Regency.
As many as 120 villagers in Belsar, including 15 pregnant women, have tested the disease borne by mosquitoes, especially Chikungunyunya and Dengue, since the village reported Zika’s first case on July 30.
Among them, a maximum of 86 villagers were tested positive for Chikungunya and 26 have been tested positive for co-dengue-chikungunya infections.
Aedes aegypti, mosquitoes that transmit the Zika virus, also transmitted dengue fever and chikungunya.
They were a lot seen during the Monsun and post-monsoon period (June to October).
“We have tested blood samples from 27 pregnant women from the village of Belsar so far.
From them, 15 has been tested positive for Chikungunya.
Everything is at home and is fine.
They will be monitored for overall health and pregnancy,” Health Officers said Taluka Ujwala Jadhav.
Pune Zilla Parishad (ZP) Health Officer has intensified the supervision of Zika’s virus in 83 regencies scattered in 13 teasts.
The expert team of three members of the Ministry of Health Union visited the Belsar Village on Thursday held a meeting and home-to-home visit.
Pregnant women in the village of Belsar have been asked extra carefully to avoid mosquito bites using nets and mosquito repellents.
