Instagram again started using Selfie Video to verify the user’s identity from this week.
Security features have functions for some time now.
The company tried to launch features in August last year but was forced to delay plans because some users were reported to be able to verify their identity even after trying several times.
Although at first it seems that Facebook’s platform has launched a global security feature after repairing bugs and interference, the video shared by the user shows that the face detection algorithm still does not work properly and can be cheated using dolls.
Alexander Chalkidis shares videos on the YouTube channel where it shows how security features can be fooled by Barbie dolls.
In the video, Chalkidis looks to move the doll head according to the direction displayed on the screen and the algorithm verifies the doll as a user.
The message “Complete Selfie Video” can be seen on the screen after completing all steps.
In separate videos distributed by Chalkidis, the Instagram verification system can be seen cheated by a ken doll.
Until now, video selfie verification is only needed when creating a new Instagram account.
No existing users receive a prompt to share selfie videos until now.
The company claims that videos will never be seen on the platform and will be removed in 30 days.
It also said that it would not collect biometric data or use facial recognition technology.
This feature was first seen by the Matt Navarra social media consultant.
Instagram is not the only one who uses selfie videos, this feature is also used by dating applications such as Tinder and Bumble where users need to share their selfies in a certain angle and pose to verify their identity.
