The new ‘Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings’ trailer is here and it has all the action, family drama and supervillains to get any Marvel fan hyped and excited.
While the first teaser clip brushed the surface of this origins story of Shang-Chi (Simu Liu), the second trailer delves deep into the comics and even brings back some supervillains we didn’t think we’d see again.
The film, which is part of Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, will follow a young superhero on his journey of self-discovery and to prove himself worthy to be the bearer of the rings.
The film will see Shang-Chi trained as a martial artist assassin by his father, the infamous pulp villain Fu Manchu.
However, the young boy grows up to become a hero after rebelling against his father’s ways.
Destin Daniel Cretton, the film’s director said in a statement, “Shang-Chi’s main problem in his life is rooted in not knowing who he really is.
He has to learn how to own every part of himself.
If he doesn’t allow himself to look at all of it—the good, the bad, the light and the dark—and to own it all, he won’t be able to reach his full potential.”
Besides the stunning visuals, with the MCU’s signature spectacle and displays of mind-blowing action, it is impossible for any Marvel fan to miss the appearances of Abomination and Mandarin.
It has been confirmed that the hulking figure in the trailer is Emil Blonsky, a.k.a the Abomination, who is making his return to the MCU over a decade after his appearance in 2008’s ‘The Incredible Hulk’.
The trailer also offers a new look at the Mandarin who was first mentioned in ‘Iron Man 3’.
Years after Ben Kingsley played the fake version of the villain, it looks like the character finally makes his MCU debut with Tony Leung playing the part.
‘Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings’ marks Marvel’s first project with an Asian cast.
The film that stars Simu Liu, Tony Leung, Awkwafina, Michelle Yeoh, Florian Munteanu, is slated for a theatrical release on September 3.
