Mumbai: Sand Above 5 kilometers of the coastal stretch of Juhu Mumbai turned black due to oil spill on Thursday.
People, who came a walk in the morning, said that oil in sea water flowed towards the beach which had become a black sand.
Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar said that the administration will check the situation on the beach.
“I will assign an environmental officer to check oil on Juhu Beach.
We don’t know the reason but, every time we have information, we will share it,” he told reporters here.
“Usually we put the sand on it but first of all we will check the situation,” he added.
Pramod Virkar, a local resident said: “We have never seen oil on the beach and in sea water, it has happened maybe because of the details of the steamer.” Other residents, days said, “The sand is sticky and we cannot walk on it.
