Chandigarh: The police on Monday devoured tear gas shells and used water cannons to dissolve BJYM activists who tried to surround the official residence of the Minister of Punjab Amarinder Singh here for alleged failure to curb threats.
Leaders and several activists of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) – Wing Youth Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) – Detained by the police.
The protesters led by the Head of Punjab Bhanu Pratap Bhanu Rana raised the slogan against the dispensation led by the congress and alleged that the minister’s chairman had “failed” to remove the threat of drugs from Punjab.
Police Chandigarh had mobilized police personnel and put out the barricade to prevent BJYS activists towards the residence of the ministerial head.
But when the protesters tried to impose their way through the barricade, the police used water cannons to disperse them in sector 17 here.
The police also used tear shells to stop the protesters.
Previously, talking to the media, Rana slammed the Amarinder Singh government in Punjab because it was unable to curb trade in drugs that “developed” under the power of the Congress.
He said before the power in 2017, Amarinder Singh had promised to remove drug threats from the country.
But he really “failed” in doing so.
In fact, drug trafficking has “developed in the country”, the shutter claims.
