Water disputes cannot be won in public fields: HDD

Mysuru: Former HD Prime Minister Deve Gowda stressed that the problem of sharing the Cauvery River water was a dispute between countries that could not be won in public fields.
“This is a legal problem that must be tried by the court,” he told reporters in Salligrama in the MySore district.
Supremo JD inaugurated the Taluk Office from the new Salrith Taluk set.
Referring to the Mekedatu inyatra by the Congress, he said the problem was waiting at the Supreme Court.
“Did the Congress leaders think if they don’t take inyatra, the court will not try the dispute? I have fought against the injustice that was brought to Karnataka in Cauvery’s disputes.
But I have never taken in antra because this problem requires legal solutions,” he said.
Meanwhile, the former Minister and BJP MLC Ah Vishwanath asked the opposition leader Siddaramaiiah if he thought the street battle would help resolve Cauvery’s disputes.
Referring to the Siyatra Siddaramaai who was taken to Ballari against Baron Mining, he said he would help him in power.
“But it was a former SC Judge and Lokayukta Probe justice Santosh Hegde which led to the arrest of being accused of illegal mining and confiscation of crores property,” he told reporters in MySuru.
