Water from STP to meet industrial needs in larger noida integrated cities

Greater Noida: The water treated from waste treatment plants (STP) in Kasna will address the industrial needs in the 750-acre integrated industrial city in Greater Noida, which is said to be the first city to take this step to overcome the soil water level which falls quickly in the city.
Already five large companies – Haier Electronics, Forme Mobile, Infotainment Satkriti, Chenfeng (LED Company) and J World Electronics – have bought land in the region.
Together, they will invest more than Rs 3,700 Crore in this region with job opportunities projected for 10,000 youth.
Officials say a long pipe 9 km from Kasna STP is currently being placed and the job is expected to be completed in early November.
Water from STP will meet the requirements of the cooling machine industries of heating, flushing toilets, irrigation for the green area and controlling dust pollution in the region.
“While the ground water level falling rapidly in various cities in this country is the cause of great worries, we at Greater Noida take steps to overcome this problem.
137 MLD STP in Kasna will help maintain the soil water level which falls rapidly in the city, “Narendra Bhoooshan said, Gnida CEO.
“This will be the first city in the state, where except for drinking water, all other industrial needs will be filled with water treated from STP.
This work has begun,” he added.
Limited Noida Township Limited (IITGNL), a joint venture between the authority of Greater Noida and Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC), is establishing an integrated industrial city for 750 hectares.
IiTGNL will buy water processed by STP from Gniga at Rs 1 lakh per month.
“To put the pipe, around Rs 9 Crore will be spent.
The cost is borne by IiTGNL,” said an official from the authority.
At present, around 5 MLD water is needed every day for the industry there.
Then, when full functional, this requirement will reach around 15 MLD.
“With this, the city-city of IITGNL will be one of several cities where the exploitation of groundwater will be zero,” said BhooShan.
