Krishnagiri: Administration of Krishnagiri Regency on Monday began releasing water from the KRP Dam (Krishnagiri Reservoir Project) for irrigation.
After opening the dam gate, district collector Dr.
V Jeyachandra Bhanu Reddy said a total of 9,012 hectares of agricultural land in 16 villages – including Periyamuthur, Sundekuppam, Thmimapuram, Soulalli, Thalialli, Kalvealli, Kundalapatti, Pélanwaramadam, Kaveripattinam, Balekuli, MarichettiLiLi, NagojanaLiLi, JanapparuralLi, JanapparuralLi and Paiyur – Will benefit.
Water will be released for the next 120 days, he added.
“At present, a total of 180 cusecs of water are released into the canal.
The right bank channel will get 87 cusecs of water while the left bank canal will get 93 cusec water,” the collector said.
According to him, a total of 4,287 hectares in Ayacut from the right main canal and around 4,725 hectares in Ayacut from the left main canal will be irrigated.
