New Delhi: High Ammonia levels in Yamuna because the disposal of pollutants from Haryana caused 50 percent of production reduction at Wazirabad, Chandrawal and Okhla which would affect supply in several parts of the national capital, officials said on Wednesday.
WTPS in Chandrawal, Wazirabad and Okhla can take care of up to 90 million gallons of water a day, each 135 MGD and 20 MGD.
The level of ammonia in the Wazirabad pool is 5 parts per million at this time.
According to the Indian standard bureau, the maximum ammonia limit that can be accepted in drinking water is 0.5 ppm.
At present, the Board of Jal Delhi has the capacity to treat 0.9 ppm.
