Nagpur: The water supply in half of the Nagpur continues on Sunday after being cut off due to the water contaminated ash was dismissed by the Khaparkheda thermal power plant on the Kanhan River.
The water works department official confirmed the development and said it was restored at the end of Saturday itself.
“There is no fly ash now and pumping has been normalized,” the official said.
On Saturday, with discharge flowing towards Nullah naturally towards the Kampee Road bridge, it was observed that the ash filter on Nullah was in a truly collapsing condition.
This caused the disposal of fly ash water on the Kanhan River.
When Kanhan’s processing plant cannot take care of water contaminated with river ash, the pump located on the right bank of the river is stopped.
It produces Kanhan WTP which operates at a capacity of 50% that affect lack of water supply and low pressure in the command area connected to Kanhan Feeder Main.
Residents came under 28 high storage reservoirs from four Ashi Nagar zones, Lakadganj, Satranjipura and Nehru Nagar Zone faced a water crisis on Saturday.
“The disposal of his gray water on the Kanhan River began after the ash filter on Nullah collapsed.
KTPS builds a new filter.
In a few days, the new Bund Nadanon Ash will be operational to reduce burns at Bund Waregaon,” said Chief Engineer KTPS Raju Ghuge.
