Water supply, sewerage: Punjab approved OTS

Chandigarh: The Punjab Cabinet on Monday approved a one-time (OTS) completion scheme for regularization of invalid connections and recovery of arrears due to water supply and sewerage fees.
This step is expected to lead to regularization of around 93000 connections, which will lead to an increase in urban local body income (ULB).
According to a spokesman, under the domestic category, Rs 200 per connection (each Rs 100 for water supply and sewerage) will cost one time for regularization of water supply and sewerage connections for plots of up to 125 sq yd, Rs 500 per connection ( RS 250 each for water supply and sewerage) will be charged for the size of the plot between 125 to 250 sq yd and rs.
1000 per connection (each Rs 500 for water supply and sewerage) for more than 250 SQ plots.
In the commercial and institutional categories, Rs 1000 per connection (each Rs 500 for water supply and sewerage) will be charged for plots that measure up to 250 sq yd and Rs 2000 per connection (each Rs 1000 for water supply and sewerage) for Plot above 250 sq yd.
There is no penalty to be charged if the cost is stored in three months from the date of notification.
For users who do not get their connection regularly in this period, 100% penalty will be charged at the top cost while setting their connections.
Users who do not get their connections regularly within six months from the date of notification will face disconnection, and the applicable penalty and interest will be charged at the cost of being delayed.
After the cost deposit, no other fees, such as road cutting, connection and security fees will be charged.
After the satisfaction of technical officials from urban local bodies regarding pipe quality, connection size and alignment of water supply channels (not below or side by side sewers), the connection will be dropped.
There is no interest and penalty for the arrears of water supply and sewerage costs will be charged if the principal amount paid on the notification date is paid within three months from the date of issuance of notification.
Also, no penalty will be charged if the principal number of arrears and interest payments is paid after 3 months but in 6 months from the date of issuance of this notification.
New rules for rights in Lal Lappain Village to compile property rights records in Lal Lakir Village Punjab Cabinet led by Chairman of Captain Amarinder Singh on Monday approved the rules ‘eternal (rights record), 2021’ to deal with the problem arises from rights related to these traits.

New blocks in the Mohali District to provide further encouragement for developmental activities in rural areas, the Cabinet also approved the creation of new Mohali blocks in Sas Nagar Regency by taking seven Panchayats from Kharar Block.
With this new block, the total number of blocks in Punjab will rise to 153.
