Erode: The state government of Nadu Tamil on Thursday ordered PWD officials to expand the release of water from Bhavanisagar Dam in Erode Regency for 10 days starting January 16.
Initially released to the dam channel from August 15, 2021 to 12 August 2021, 2021.
Then, extended until January 15, 2022.
Meanwhile, Chennasamudram canal officers appealed to the state government to extend the release of water for 10 days to carry out ‘Nanjani’ plant cultivation First term.
Considering their appeal, the state government ordered PWD officials to extend water release for 10 days.
“The release of water will be maintained in 1987.20 Cusecs until January 25, 2022,” said a PWD official.
The official said a total of 1.03 lakh hectares of agricultural land in Erode, Tirupur and Karur will benefit.
The state government has also ordered PWD to release water from the Thoppaiyaru Dam in the Dharmapuri district for 55 days, starting January 19, for the second futures cultivation.
