Waterlogging Woes at Old Delhi Road which tends to be repaired by the next Monsun

Gurgaon: Waterlogging on the old Delhi road might end next year with the renovation of the Stormwater Master flowing on a busy stretch in the pipe.
According to officials of the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA), foot 1 of the sewer who walked from Jalan Delhi Tua to the Gorong-Gorong-Gorong-Gorong train number 47 at Palam Vihar was built around 35 years ago with a “brick wall” and covered with a slab.
Over time and because the effects of gas released from waste, mortar connections from the channel wall have become weak in several places in sector 22 and Palam Vihar, and both slabs and walls have begun to be destroyed.
Pardeep Kumar, Chief Engineer Infrastructure II Division GMDA, told TII, “All my legs from the sewer have broken most of these monsoons.
The walls collapse and some plate also fall inside.
We also noticed that the sewer overflowed to the old Delhi road When heavy rains.
The problem is that the upstream drain before Old Delhi Road is wider but there are few obstacles on the downstream side.
“According to officials, while the width of the sewer before the Old Delhi road was 4.25 meters, on the downstream side, limited to 2, 10 meters and 3.35 meters leading to overflow water drain on the old Delhi road during each spell.
Officials said because “fast urbanization” the volume of disposal to the sewer, especially during the rainy season, has risen but the sewer cannot fulfill all the disposal of his catch and need to be reconstructed.
While GMDA initially planned to improve the stretch of Jalan Old Delhi to the train culverts, later decided to expand the water channel to increase its capacity.
“The budget estimate until the train culverts are first pegged at RS 35 Crore.
However, then it was decided that the work must be divided into two phases and submitted to two different institutions to be resolved simultaneously,” Kumar said, adding that the work is expected to be expected finished in six months after allotment.
Phase I from the project will involve the construction of the Sewers from Rianta La Chowk to the Gorong-Gorong-Gorong-Gorong Railway number 47, while in Phase II Sewers from the culverts of rezang to rezang La Chowk will be built, officials said.
“Improving stretching under phase I is a priority when walking from the back of the houses at Palam Vihar.
However, the aim is to solve both tasks simultaneously so the work is completed as early as possible.
Drain will be increased before the next monsoon,” Kumar said.
At present, GMDA estimates to complete work under Phase I at Rs 15.85 Crore.
Regardless of the construction of 1,475 meters-long drain, it will involve building 12 rainwater harvest holes.
