Kolkata: Alleged Omicron counting in Bengal increased four on Sundays with two 44 and 24-year-old men, a 31-year-old woman and a five-year-old girl, who arrived in Kolkata from London, tested Covid’s positive.
They have all been placed under institutional quarantine, said a state health department official.
The four suspects fly in Air India Flight AI-164 from Heathrow in London.
This flight has 198 passengers while 180 of them – over five years old – undergoing a test.
“The four leaflets are positive for Covid-19 at the airport.
Their samples will be sent to the genome sequencing on Monday,” said Health Services Director, Ajay Chakraborty.
The four were initially directed at special insulation facilities for suspicious Omicrons in infectious diseases managed by the Government and Buyaghata General Hospital (ID & BG).
They were then transferred to a private hospital on request.
The 44-year-old man acknowledged the Dhakuria Amri unit was a resident of Kaikhali while the 24-year-old man and the 31-year-old woman, both the resident of Shyambazar, was treated at the Amri Salt Lake Unit.
The five-year-old girl admitted at Amri Mukundapur was a resident of Prince Anwar Shah Road.
He was the first child placed under institutional quarantine in Bengal as a suspicious case of Omicron.
“The girl is fully asimptomatic.
Because parents are not allowed inside, a nurse will give the company and take care of them,” said the hospital chain source.
At present, five omicron-positive patients are in hospital isolation.
None of them have severe infections.
