Kolkata: CBI has called Vinay Mishra’s parents – one who was accused of being a case of cross-boundary overtime smuggling and illegal coal mining in West Bengal.
While Mishra left Indian citizenship on December 19, 2020 and reportedly took Vanuatu’s citizenship, his brother Vikas was arrested by the Directorate of Enforcement in March this year.
According to sources, the Central Investigation Agency official asked Mishra’s parents to stay at the Nizam Palace office in Kolkata on Wednesday.
Previously, the CBI anti-corruption branch had carried out several raids in residential areas and Mishra’s office.
Lawyer Mishra Ayan Poddar did not want to comment on the notification served in his parents.
Mishra, who has left India last year and moved to Dubai after that, has submitted a request to leave Indian citizenship with the Indian Consulate General Office in the United Arab Emirates.
He further claimed that the application was received by the Indian government on December 22, 2020.
He then moved to Vanuatu-a South Pacific Ocean Nation where he reportedly took citizenship.
In the subjects with the Calcutta High Court, Mishra begged that he was willing to join the investigation of video conferencing that maintained movement restrictions due to a pandemic in mind.
Saying his inability to join physically investigations due to the pandemic situation, he promised to appear before the CBI personally when the situation of the pandemic normalized and restricted the movement was appointed.
Until then, he was looking for protection from the arrest and cancellation of a circular and red angle notice.
Then Mishra’s lawyer seeks temporary protection from the Central Investigation Agency during its physical presence in the country.
“The CBI has not approved such temporary protection and this problem is awaiting a verdict.
Our main conflict in court is that the CBI does not have jurisdiction to take cases in West Bengal without the approval of the state government.
The court will give a verdict on whether the central agent has jurisdiction or not , “said Podar.
