Kolkata: The bond between Punjabis and Bengalis on his lips, quoting from the national anthem and support voicing for the farmer’s movement, the Chairman of the Minister of Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday reached a group of Sikh and Punjabi voters who were 10% of voters in Bhowanipore.
CM Banerjee visited Sant Kutiya Gurdwara at Harish Mukherjee Road in the afternoon, two days after he visited Sholo Aana Mosque in Ekberpore and five days after he attended the Ganesh Chaturthi celebration at Maharashtra Niwas in Bhowanipore immediately after submitting a nomination letter.
Banerjee has started his election campaign from Ahindra Mancha in Chetla seven days ago with a meeting of closed party workers.
On Thursday, he will take part in the voter interaction program at Uttam Udyan in Padmapur, under Ward 72 Bhowanipore where it has attended the last election.
On Wednesday, CM, barefoot and head wrapped in Pallu, reaching Gurdwara around 3pm.
Offer his prayer – four Dalas of Jalebi and Laddoo – have reached before he did it.
In Gurdwara, he put the offerings and ‘Chadar’ before the teacher of Granth Sahib and prayed in front of 100-odd who persuaded him to overcome it.
He said the bond between Punjabis and Bengali went longer back and their contribution to the freedom movement could not be confirmed.
“In the second line of National Anthem, the Head of Rabindranath Tagore has mentioned Punjab as the first and Bengal state as the last.
India may not achieve freedom if Punjab is not there.
Among the fighters of freedom, the amount of Bengali and Punjabis is far more than the community others, “he said.
Sikh and Punjabi communities accounted for around 5,000 strange voters in constituencies.
Hindi’s total voters are around 40% of voters.
Banerjee also gave up on the request of selfies and groupfies with Punjabi women, many of them had collected hours before he arrived.
“Even I have a punjabi girl in my house.
Abhishek (his nephew and Trinamool Secretary General) Rujiri is Punjabi.
He came to Gurdwara at 4 in the morning and even prayed at Kuniagotatat.
He even taught his daughter Punjabi singing and he could also spell them,” Banerjee said.
He added that he loved Punjab and wanted to visit the Golden Temple in Amritsar once.
Reacting to the problem of the farm movement submitted by a Punjabi visitor, Banerjee said: “I really support the farmer’s movement.
The center must draw three bills.
Their representatives came here and met me.
Even I gave two or three public speeches through cellphones from here.
Simply let me know about all kinds of cooperation you need from my end.
Just order and I will do it.
“Before leaving, CM quoted two sentences in Punjabi, pushing a crowd to sing simultaneously.
“He did not say a single political word or look for a voice.
He often visited this Gurdwara and it was like another visit like that.
We also presented it with a scarf,” said Manjit Singh, who was in Gurdwara during Banerjee’s visit.
