Kolkata: The state government has given ahead to reopen the school and college campuses from Thursday but some institutions in the city have decided to start the physical class next week after Saraswati Puja so that students outstation get enough time to shift to Kolkata and authorities Can also be completed with sanititiation and other settings.
In meetings in all universities and universities, the authorities negotiate on reopening modalities and prioritizing batches that will be called for in-people first.
They also started working on an inviting application for hostel accommodation.
St Xavier’s University has decided to continue the physical class from February 7, with the second and fourth semester graduate students scheduled to attend classes from Monday to Friday and the second and fourth semester MBA students from Monday to Saturday.
Second semester and sixth undergraduate students will also be given in-people’s schedule.
The head of the Department at Jadavpur University will decide on in-people’s classroom modalities after discussing with groups of students and other teachers.
“Most of our students come from outside and we have to give them time to return to the city.
We regularly clean the campus and hostel,” said an official.
St Xavier’s lecture at Park Street has pushed back the reopening back to February 21, when only Batch UG and PG will start initially.
But students of bed and multimedia from all semesters will attend classes on campus.

Our students come from all over the country so, we need to give them time to move to Kolkata,” said Dominic Savio’s father, Principal of St Xavier’s College.
Astutosh College will continue the physical class on February 8 with the fourth and sixth semester.
“The second semester class will begin immediately after the first semester exam takes place.
The date will be notified soon,” said Deputy Head of the Principal Apurba Ray.
In Seth Anandram Jaipuria College, the physical class began returning from Thursday itself.
“Some batches will come on Thursday, and some others on Monday.
All teaching staff and non-teaching have been told to be on campus from Tuesday,” said the Principal of Asok Mukhopadhyay.
