Kolkata: The Bengal Government will soon write to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) with a list of citizens who are trapped in Afghanistan, so they can be evacuated.
Minister of Justice Mamata Banerjee said a little more than 200 people from Darjeeling, Terai and Dooar were stranded in Kabul.
“I have asked the head secretary to write a letter to the MEA to make sure they returned.
A little more than 200 people trapped in Afghanistan,” he said.
Some dozen more than 24 parganas and Nadia were stranded there too, it was studied.
“We have asked DM to give the name of the person who works in this country.
We talk to MEA officials to get updates from those stranded there,” said a Nabanna official.
While 97 workers from North Bengal have so far been evacuated, others are appointed in Kabul and other parts of Afghanistan.
These workers, many of them have been in Afghanistan for years, they were even taken to the social networking platform to send desperate messages for assistance.
In video messages accessed by Toi, a group of Indian workers, especially from North Bengal, have requested rescue.
“We were almost 140 men stranded in Kabul now.
We appeal to the Indian government to take us out of this city as soon as possible.
We have no provisions for food or drinks.
We also do not have access to the bank,” said the person in a message.
MP Darjeeling Raju Bista said he was “constantly” related to many of them.
“The condition is very serious.
There are between 150 and 200 workers who are stranded in Kabul now.
They are mainly from areas such as Darjeeling, Kalimpong and Dooars.
In one tube, there are nearly 150 workers like that.

“There are several private companies where Indians work long.
We connect their family members to government officials and parliamentarians,” said Upendra M Pradhan, a social activist from Darjeeling.
Bandana Rai Thapa, whose husband has worked in a private company in Kabul and saved on Monday, happy.
“I have a word with him once he reached Dubai.
I heard that almost 40 people worked in my husband’s company – many of them came from Darjeeling – saved on Monday.
It was very relieved for us.
My husband had told me that there were many companies In Afghanistan, where a number of people from the work of North Bengal.
When the Taliban invaded the city, they robbed a lot.
Some Indians lost their passports when the Taliban attacked them.
I heard that there were many who were still stranded there.
My family members were in trouble.
