Kolkata: Tiplers may have a reason to cheer before the celebration season.
Indian prices make foreign liquor (IMFL) in the state likely to drop 20% throughout the council from the third week of September.
The price of beer can change a little from both sides.
It has been studied that the excise department has a series of meetings with prominent liquor and beer in the past two months after representation of various bodies related to trading liquor.
The consumption of the IMFL in the country has declined because of the revision of the price increase in April 2020.
The price of the IMFL has increased by almost 40% -50% in two stages since the pandemic is set.
In the last quarter of 2020-21 (Jan-Feb-Feb 2021), consumption of liquor fell 28% compared to the same period in 2019-20.
The trend continued in the first quarter of this fiscal (April-June) too.
In terms of the IMFL, according to the data available, consumption in the January-Feb-March period this year is 2.5 million cases (12 bottles of 750 ml).
From April to June, consumption is 2.6-2.7 million cases.
For the total fiscal 2020-21, the consumption of the IMFL in the country is a little more than 10 million cases also witnessing a decline of around 30%.
Learned that the Excise Ministry has verbally delivered information on the structure of the task structure at the exdistillery price for the price of IMFL and Exbrewery (EBP) for beer from the third week of next month.
“Circular detailed in this case can be issued in the second week of September.
Price reduction before Puja will definitely increase the demand for liquor,” said the executive IMFL company.
According to liquor experts, prices are important even when it comes to liquor and beer which is considered less sensitive to oil products.

In January, there was strong growth, while in the month March and April, which is among the peak season for beer, its growth three times – from 6.3 cases of lakh in March 2020 to 16.7 lakh this March case and from 2,875 cases in April 2020 (complete lockdown) up to 16.7 Lakh this case.
“The trend continues in May, June and July,” he added.
