WB: Malls Can be Permitted to reopen after staffers get jab

KOLKATA: The country may soon allow malls and restaurants, closed as May 1, to restart operations following vaccinating their employees, chief minister Mamata Banerjee signaled at an interaction with businessmen in the state secretariat on Thursday.
The state authorities, in an arrangement on April 30 — a day following the previous phase of their eight-phase meeting elections — had banned them from remaining open in an attempt to restrict events, in an attempt to curtail a towering second tide of the outbreak.
The working period for standalone retail stores would also be raised by one hour at the afternoons (noon to 4pm), Banerjee suggested.
Restaurants are permitted to run between 5pm and 8pm, and malls in 25 percent of the best footfall.
Standalone restaurants will likely start before the conclusion of the next fortnight of constraints about June 15, however people in malls could begin just when the centers restart operations.
A business conclusion on reopening malls would be obtained after June 16.
