KOLKATA: Cops probing into the recovery of a headless dead body found floating at a bheri off Salt Lake Sector V, two and half months ago, have identified the victim and arrested his younger brother on charges of murder.
Cops said the body was of Pawan Yadav, a commercial driver from Darbhanga in Bihar who used to live at a rented accommodation at Polenite in Salt Lake with his two younger brothers.
Yadav’s body was found at a bheri in Boro Kopat area of Salt Lake Sector V on April 8.
His head was severed from the body and it had no clothes on it which made it difficult for the cops to identify the same.
Police said, Pawan had a dispute with his two brothers – Pappu and Santosh – over an ancestral property in their village.
Cops said the two brothers had allegedly plotted the murder and killed him.
Later, they beheaded the body and left it at the bheri.
To avoid suspicion, the two had even lodged a missing diary with Electronic Complex Police Station but cops suspected them and later got Pappu arrested, who cops said had confessed his crime.
Cops are also on the lookout for the other brother, Santosh, who is currently on the run.
