Kolkata: Polling for elections to Bidhannagar City, Asansol, Siliguri and Chandannagar companies in West Bengal remain “more or less peaceful”, and selection of more than 43 percent voters are recorded in all civil bodies until 1 pm, said an official Saturday.
Voting for the election of the four civil bodies began at 7 in the morning.
“Polling is being held peacefully.
There is no incident of violence that has been reported.
We have recorded several disruptions from the corporate cities of this city where outsiders were found to stand in the voter queues,” said senior officials of the West Bengali Election Commission.
Voter voters of 45.73 percent are registered in Siliguri at 1pm, while the percentage in Chandannagar, Bidhannagar and Asansol are 43.72, 46.57 and 48.11 percent, he said.
Complete security arrangements have been made by police in all four city areas located in various states for peaceful polling behavior, he said.
Outsorals were detected in the line of voters on two Bidhannagar wards and one in Siliguri, the official said.
“The State Police held the BJP Subhasif Das and Bissyit Mondal candidate in Siliguri for alleged involvement of them in creating problems outside the polling booth,” the official said.
Overall, 203 candidates fight in 41 wards in Bidhannagar, while 200 are in Medan 47 Civic Siliguri’s body seats, according to the SEC website.
There were 120 candidates for 33 wards at Chandannagar and 430 candidates who fought in 106 wards in Asansol.
Vote counting will be held on February 14.
In the 2015 election, Siliguri was won in front of the left, while three other city companies were guaranteed by TMC.
Polling to these civil bodies, along with more than 100 others, has been postponed because of the Covid-19 pandemic situation and is being arranged by the administrator.
