Wb prepares with strict norms to overcome the challenge of ‘o’

Kolkata: The government managed hospital has been asked to remain ready so they can isolate and treat all confirmed omicron-positive or suspected patients with short notice.
Medical colleges and district hospitals, in particular, have been asked to strengthen their infrastructure after the first Bengal Omicron case detected in Malda.
Ward 50 Beds in Infectious Diseases & Buyaghata General Hospitals have been prepared for omicron patients and suspects.
“Dedicated Ward has been stored in the Hospital ID for suspect suspects or cases.
But now we have the first confirmed case in a district.
So medical colleges in the district are asked to remain ready,” said a health department official.
Resources say Hospital ID will continue to serve cases suspected or confirmed from the city and suburbs.
If necessary, a more dedicated ward will be opened in other government hospitals.
At present, only one suspected case is accepted at the Hospital ID.
Private hospitals in Kolkata have also prepared to meet the challenges of Omicron.
Most have improved their filtering process and at least one has arranged an Omicron unit.
The history of the patient’s journey is now being recorded diligently so that alleged cases can be easily identified and isolated.
Superspecialty Medica Hospital has established an eight bed omicron unit.
“We have divided the unit to four to make the bed as isolated as possible.
Apart from, screening has been made tighter.
Now it is mandatory for every health worker to wear a double mask, facial shield, gloves and eye protection in the Covid ward.
Each suspect Covid Asked for detailed travel records, “said Chairson Medica Alok Roy.
AMRI Hospital, where the first Omicron suspect in Bengal was treated, had revived the Covid Task Force Committee which included the infection control team, microbiologists and critical care experts.
“They are now involved in collecting data about Omicron and dealing with experts in the US.
Even though the inputs they get so far are not scary, we have returned to prevention in place at the start of the pandemic,” said the hospital source.
At the Tagore International Institute of Cardiac Sciences (RTIICS), those who have a recent history of travel to South Africa and certain European countries are isolated and tested for Covid before being guided to fever clinics if they have symptoms.
“Samples of those who have a positive travel history test will be sent to the genome sequencing to the Eastern Region reference center in Nibgm (Kalyani) through the Hospital ID,” said Zonal Head RTIIK R Venkatesh.
