Kolkata: The big big wedding industry that looks laundering because the third wave has succeeded in minimizing its loss due to relaxation given by the state government two weeks ago.
From the Trousseau of marriage to flowers, from food and drinks to wedding photo shoots, several industries that depend on marriage have registered a surge in demand because the government allowed the presence of 200 people at the previous marriage from the order of 50 people or less at the beginning of the year due to the third wave.
Many couples who are on the verge of canceling their marriage, the fortune period for this year’s wedding began January 15 and so on, change their plans and leave after the government loosens restrictions only 50 people per marriage.
“November and December were a very good month for business but the emergence of the third wave in early January threatened many wedding seasons.
Many clients start talking about canceling weddings due to strict restrictions,” said Sukriti Aggrawal, the manager of the event management company that designed marriage in Kolkata and other cities in the eastern region.
“But once the government announced that 200 people could attend very few weddings that were canceled.
They made some small and advanced adjustments with marriages that have saved several industries to cause a big loss.” Some wedding dependent industries such as catering, decoration and transportation employ hundreds of people who looked at the loss of livelihoods because of the third wave.
“We employ most people contractually during the wedding season.
If the marriage will be canceled, we will not need so many people.
This will mean a loss for us and these people,” said Samar Banerjee, who took the catering contract in the wedding.
“Because only 200 people attending weddings, clients have reduced goods and quantity, but some people also function in two shifts so that more people can attend.” Even the venue hasn’t seen a broad cancellation during the third wave.
“Of the 35 marriages scheduled for this season only six have been canceled that has occurred at the beginning of the wedding season because the border of the government’s orders came a little late,” said Keshav Neur, the owner of the Orchid banquet on Jalan Vivekananda.
