KOLKATA:” Charred bodies of those four employees trapped in the hosiery mill in New Barrackpore, which caught fire at the early hours Thursday, were ultimately recovered Saturday morning.
The bodies located close to the second floor staircase suggested the employees had attempted to escape into the roof but neglected as the patio door was padlocked.
The fire which raged for almost 48 hours abandoned the mill and an adjoining medication godown gutted.
The bodies have been identified by relatives since Tanmoy Ghosh (32) of Nadia’s Haringhata, Subrata Ghosh (30) of Ranaghat, Amit Sen (28) of both Habra and Swarup Ghosh of Ashokenagar’s Beraberia.
All bodies have been sent into Kamarhati Sagore Dutta Medical College & Hospital for postmortem.
“The bodies have been seriously burnt.
Their households identified them rings, chains, wristwatches and other accessories.
They had been lying around the second floor stairs close to the doorway that led to the terrace.
It seems they’d made an effort to get to the terrace but died in the flame because the door was secured,” an officer of Barrackpore commissionerate stated.
“My son has been predicted by mill boss on Monday to resume the job.
He talked to me over telephone on Wednesday afternoon.
He did not go home that night because of cyclonic storm.
But we never envisioned he would need to cover the night remain with his entire life,” explained Swarup’s father, Samir.
Manoj Kr Verma, the police commissioner of Barrackpore, stated,”Each of the four figures have beensent to get postmortem.
The mill was run .
An FIR was lodged against the mill owner and also a raid is to nab him.
