Kolkata: The State Transport Department on Friday issued a new notification of the use of multi-color flares on vehicles after their rampant abuse was reported.
This has pushed the police to eliminate flares from vehicles where they are used illegally.
Multi-color flares are specifically used by police, firefighters, disaster management groups, defense forces for legal and order maintenance, tasks related to fire control and in controlling disasters such as landslides, collapses, tsunamis or nuclear disasters, chemistry biological.
Apart from the officers and personnel, the minister of department was the first time included in the list.
Secretary of Secretary and Secretary of the Department, Commissioner Division and district level officers are also included in the list.
Notifications issued by the Ministry of Transportation and Highways (MORTH) in 2017 determine vehicles that can have multi-color flares.
Notifications also explain that the Minister of Transportation must issue stickers to specific officers, on the vehicle whose flare will be used on the security of print water paper with a hologram.
Immediately after the release of the notification, the idea that was misused drifted, erupted the controversy about how the governor, assembly speaker and opposition leader were abandoned from the list of officials entitled Beacon.
However, the Minister of Transportation Firhad Hakim said that this multi-color beacon had nothing to do with the officials.
“Notification of the transportation department is misinterpreted.
The beacon is intended only for emergency services.
However, we will issue a list of fresh officials who can use flares.
After Debanjan Deb (which uses beacons in the car to the dupe people), we learn the lesson,” Minister said Transportation of Firhad Judge.
Notifications also say that when not on the task it is related to controlling fire, law and order or disaster, vehicles cannot use such flares.
