Ahmedabad: Gujarat High Court on Friday ordered all illegal mining activities in the Sanctuary Girnar area to be stopped and violators must be handled tightly, and commented, “We are unable to play with wild and environmental animals”.
Responding to pills that complained about illegal mining and excavation in the environmental sensitive zone of Sanctuary Girnar, the High Court had last year ordered forest officials and Junagadh District Authorities immediately stopped activities.
On Friday, the Advocacy of Girish Das applicants submitted that additional material in the form of videography and photos had been supplied to court with a written statement that illegal activities continued even after a high court order.
However, the activity has stopped a week ago.
When he heard this, justice was J B B B Pardiwala and Justice V D Nanavati asked officials to look into the material supplied by the applicant and take appropriate action.
The bench commented, “This must be stopped.
All illegal mining activities within the Holy Area must be stopped at any cost.
And anyone who is found to spoil in such activities must be handled very strictly.
We are unable to play with wildlife and the environment.
“Pills complain that excavation and mining activities are being carried out in one of the forests that are sensitive to the environment in Junagadh and Taluka chart.
